Deposits and blockages within your pipeline or process stream have a negative effect on your process and can be difficult and costly to locate through traditional methods. ScanTech's Pipe Scanning service is a quick and effective technique for locating and quantifying these deposits.

Performing the Pipe Scan
| Our personnel can perform pipe scans on pipes from 4 to 48 inches or more in diameter using our adjustable scanning equipment. A small radioactive source is focused into a narrow beam that passes through the pipe and is detected on the opposite side with a sensitive detector. The counts obtained at the detector are interpreted to determine if any blockages or deposits exist in the pipe.
The pipe scan equipment can be rotated through various angles if space permits. This allows the operator to examine all sides of the pipe to determine the extent of any deposits. ScanTech's equipment can also be positioned at a fixed point on the pipe and monitored over time. This is most useful when a customer suspects liquid slugging through the pipe and needs to verify or quantify their hypothesis. A plot of density versus time is produced to analyze flow properties of the liquid slugging. |
